Take a moment to consider signing this online petition:


Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a widowed 43 year old mother of 2 has been sentenced to death in Iran for having an “illicit” relationship with 2 men. She has already received 99 lashes as her sentence. International outrage has been steadily growing over her death sentence – originally death by stoning, although this has reportedly been altered in response to the global outcry (although the death sentence itself stands). 

Sakineh’s situation is representative of the plight faced by women worldwide.  What is unusual is the raising up of voices against her treatment. It is encouraging to know that men and women around the world will not stand for this. Perhaps in saving Sakineh, we can in some way help persecuted women globally.

The Free Sakineh petition is striving to reach 1 million signatures.
